Alam Karya wants to enter mineral business

IDX-listed PT Alam Karya Unggul Tbk wants to enter mineral sector this year, while still focusing its current business, namely leasing heavy equipment.

There isn?t yet any decision whether to the firm will enter the upstream or downstream sector of the business and regarding the type of mineral it wants to make business in.

?We are exploring opportunities to enter mineral mining sector, while formulating steps that we shall take,? President Director Bambang Adhi Pratamo said after the firm?s shareholders? meeting on Monday.

This year, the firm will still focus on its business of leasing heavy equipment, such as excavators and bulldozers.

He said the number of heavy equipment it will lease this year will be the same with last year?s. He did not provide the figure of last year.

The firm leased its equipment to coal miners in Sumatra, such as PT Trimega Utama Corporindo.
