Antam, Newcrest form alliance to find gold, copper resources in RI

IDX-listed mining firm PT Aneka Tambang Tbk (Antam) and ASX-listed Newcrest Mining Ltd signed an agreement to form strategic alliance to explore for gold and copper deposits in several areas in Indonesia.

The Australian Embassy in Jakarta said in a statement issued on Sunday, as quoted by Antara, that the agreement was signed in Sydney witnessed by visiting Indonesian Minister of Trade Enggartiasto Lukita and Head of the Indonesian Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) Thomas Lembong.

No further details about the agreement were provided.

This portal quoted Antam Operational Director Agus Zamzam as saying in June that the company was planning to team up with Newcrest to find new gold resources in five locations in Indonesia including in Java. (*)
