Govt asked to resume Musi power project

Governor of Bengkulu Hasan Zen has proposed the central government to continue the construction of a hydro power plant in Musi river, Ujan Mas village, Rejang Lebong , which has been delayed for more than a year due to the country's economic crisis.

He said the Musi hydropower plant, which will has a generating capacity of 210 megawatt was very much needed to solve the shortage of the electricity supply in the province.

"We have send a proposal letter to Vice President Megawati Sukarnoputri and ask the government to resume the delayed power project," he said, adding that the local office of the state owned electricity compay PLN had to carry out a power rotation every night due to the acute power shortage. ( * )
