The government will develop next year gas pipeline network to distribute gas to households in Ogan Komering Ulu, South Sumatra Province.

This was said by Director General of Oil and Gas at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources Djoko Siswanto during a meeting in Jakarta with Ogan Komering Ulu, Kuryana Azis.  The local administration has requested to the ministry for the government to develop the household gas pipeline network (also known here as Jargas) in the regency.

Djoko said that in the first phase the government will develop gas pipeline network for a total of 4,000 households in the regency.

The government has been seeking to accelerate the development of household gas pipeline networks in several parts of the country to encourage households to convert from LPG to cheaper natural gas, which is expected to help reduce import of LPG.

Between 2009 and 2018, gas pipeline networks have been developed for a combined 325,852 households in 16 provinces.

This year, the government has set a target to develop new gas pipeline networks for a total of 78,216 households.
