Indonesia's crude oil production fell to 1.26 million barrels-per-day (bpd) in October from 1.30 million bpd in September, oil industry sources said on Monday.

``There are still many problems in several oil fields, both technical and non-technical. Crude production fell to 1.26 million bpd in October,'' one said.

Other sources said Caltex Pacific Indonesia had produced 667,000 bpd in October, compared with 690,000 bpd in September.

Its operations in central Sumatra have been hit by repeated protests by locals over jobs and land rights.

Indonesia, the only Asian member of the Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), has a 1.36 million bpd quota.

Indonesia's Mines and Energy Minister Purnomo Yusgiantoro has warned that the fall in Caltex oil production would affect Indonesia's economy which remains heavily dependent on oil exports.

Caltex is jointly owned by Chevron Corp and Texaco Inc. (*)
