Indonesia raises second-half June coal benchmark prices across all grades

The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) has increased its reference coal prices (HBA) for the second half of June, with benchmark prices rising across all coal grades from the first-half June period, according to a ministerial decree.
The prices were stipulated in Ministerial Decree No. 253.K/MB.01/MEM.B/2026 on Reference Metal Mineral Prices and Reference Coal Prices for the second period of June 2026, a copy of which was obtained by Petromindo.com on Tuesday.
The benchmark HBA for coal with a calorific value of 6,322 kcal/kg GAR was set at $123.91 per tonne for the second half of June, up from $121.83 per tonne in the first-half June period.
HBA I, with a calorific value of 5,300 kcal/kg GAR, was set at $88.40 per tonne, compared with $84.53 per tonne previously.
HBA II coal, with a calorific value of 4,100 kcal/kg GAR, rose to $60.19 per tonne from $58.81 per tonne in the first half of June.
Meanwhile, HBA III, the lowest calorific grade at 3,400 kcal/kg GAR, increased to $41.19 per tonne from $40.32 per tonne in the previous period.
Indonesia revises its coal benchmark prices twice a month. The HBA serves as a reference for coal sales transactions and as the basis for calculating state royalties.
The latest increases indicate continued strength in coal prices across all calorific grades, extending the upward trend seen in recent benchmark revisions.
