PT Indonesia Pomalaa Industrial Park (IPIP) has officially put into operation four new portal cranes, each with a lifting capacity of 40 tons, at Port 1 of PT IPIP Port Kolaka (IPK) in Pomalaa, Kolaka Regency, Southeast Sulawesi, the company said on Wednesday.

The commissioning marks an important milestone in strengthening logistics infrastructure at the nickel-based industrial estate in Southeast Sulawesi.

IPK Port serves as a key logistics hub built to support PT IPIP’s industrial estate activities in Southeast Sulawesi’s nickel mining corridor. The port is expected to become a major loading and unloading center for raw materials, supporting materials and finished products for companies operating within the estate.

The four 40T/40M portal cranes had earlier arrived safely at the port on May 2, 2026. Each crane has a lifting capacity of 40 tons and a working radius of up to 40 meters. The equipment is expected to significantly increase cargo handling capacity and efficiency at the port.

PT IPIP CEO Ning Jiancheng said the operation of the cranes marked an important transition for IPK Port from the construction stage to full operational utilization.

He said the move reflected the company’s strategic commitment to strengthening the functional integration of the industrial estate and port in order to provide more modern and efficient logistics services.

“The operation of these cranes serves as an important foundation to support the sustainable development of the industrial estate’s business and operations,” Ning said.
