The MoU was signed by MEMR?s Secretary General Teguh Pamudji and BI?s Deputy Governor Perry Warjiyo.
The MoU covers the sharing, acquisition and organizing of data and/or information related to energy and mineral resources, monetary affairs and enhancement of human resources competence. The agreement is valid for five years since the signing date, the ministry said in a statement.
Teguh said in his speech that the agreement was signed on the grounds of conviction of both parties that any policy that will be made should be based on accurate data and information and comprehensive analysis on consequences that may occur as a result of the policy.
?Data and information from the MEMR such as those regarding production of energy and mineral commodities and policies regarding oil fuel and power prices should be a main focus of attention for BI in formulating Indonesia Payment Balance indicators,? Teguh said.
Meanwhile, MEMR is setting close eyes on BI polices regarding foreign exchange export revenues, obligatory utilization of Letter of Credit and the minimum down-payment for the purchasing of vehicles and others ? all of which have impacts on the activities in the MEMR sectors.
Perry said the agreement will bring benefits to both parties. ?The agreement on information and data sharing will become a pillar for the formulation of policies by both Bank Indonesia and MEMR,? he said.
He said previously both parties signed a similar agreement which was effective four years from 2011-2014.
