MSM denies polluting environment

PT Meares Soputan Mining (MSM)/PT Tambang Tondano Nusajaya (TTN), a foreign investment gold mining company strongly denied accusation that the company?s gold mining waste had polluted nearby environment.

The company?s spokesperson Hery Rumondor said that the company would take legal actions against the baseless acquisition as the company had complied to the government?s regulation in managing the waste.

?The accusation is slanderous and different with the facts on site. The information (of pollution) is unfounded. We will take legal action for defamation of this information,? Hery said in the press statement.

He said that the company had applied the highest standard of environmental management in its operation to ensure protection of the environment and local community around the project.

The local administration dealing with the environmental issue and the mine inspector from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources conduct regular monitoring to the sites.
