The value of oil and gas exports from Aceh province rose by 15 percent to US$764.4 million during the January-June period from US$646.4 million from the same period last year.
According to the provincial office of the ministry of industry and trade, the rise in the export earnings from the oil and gas was mainly due to an increase in oil prices. In term of volume, the gas exports suffered a decline of nearly 50 percent to 3.7 million tons during the first semester from 5.6 million tons in the same semester, last year.
According to the data provided by the office, the decline in the volume of the exports was caused by the stoppage in the gas exports to China. During the period, the liquefied natural gas and liquefied petroleum gas and condensate, mostly from Arun gas plant, were all exported to Japan and South Korea.
During the first semester, the volume of LNG exports to Japan totaled 1.6 million tons with total value of US$232.5 million, while the LPG to the country reached 23,000 tons, with total value of $6.3 million. South Korea imported 2.02 million tons of LNG, with total value of $414.07 million and 21,100 tons of condensate with a total value of US$2.3 million. (*)
