Fuel trading company PT Pertamina Patra Niaga, a subsidiary of state-owned oil and gas firm PT Pertamina, said that two of its fuel trucks were hijacked by an unidentified group of people in Jakarta at 5 a.m. Monday while enroute to Tangerang, Banten Province.
President Director of Pertamina Patra Niaga Nina Sulistiyowati told Petrmindo.com that the company has reported the incident to the police.
Vice President for Corporate Communications at the company, Ayulia told Petromindo.com that the two fuel tanker trucks, each with capacity of 32 kilo liters, were carrying biodiesel at full capacity. While entering the toll road gate at Ancol, North Jakarta, around 10 people immediately hijacked the trucks. “The hijackers said they’re going to the State Palace.”
But news portal detik.com quoted Daryono, Coordinator of Pertamina Fuel Tanker Truckers Labor Union, as saying that the trucks were not hijacked but were merely used as part of demonstration in front of the State Palace this morning to demand for higher wage. “It’s not a hijack, the drivers were also our friends,” he told the news portal.
