PT Pertamina Gas (Pertagas), a gas distribution subsidiary of PT Pertamina (Persero), has officially been appointed operator of the Batang–Cirebon–Kandang Haur Timur (Cisem II) natural gas transmission pipeline following a tender conducted by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources through LEMIGAS.
Pertagas said on Thursday that the appointment was finalized in April 2026 after the company won the partner selection process for the project, which forms part of the larger Cirebon–Semarang (Cisem) gas transmission pipeline network.
The Cisem II pipeline follows the earlier development of the Semarang–Batang section, known as Cisem I, which has been operated by Pertagas since 2023.
Pertagas President Director Indra P. Sembiring said the company’s experience operating Cisem I demonstrates its readiness to manage the broader pipeline network and support gas distribution to various domestic consumer sectors.
“The availability of integrated and reliable gas infrastructure is key to accelerating the national energy transition through natural gas,” Indra said in a statement.

He added that gas distributed through the Cisem pipeline would support demand from industries and other sectors seeking cleaner energy sources, while also creating added value for Indonesia’s upstream oil and gas sector.
According to the company, Cisem II is designated as a National Strategic Project (PSN) aimed at integrating Indonesia’s natural gas transmission infrastructure.
The approximately 242-km pipeline will connect with Pertagas’ existing infrastructure in West Java, Central Java and East Java, strengthening gas distribution reliability across Java Island.
Pertagas Director of Engineering and Operations Agung Indri Pramantyo said the Cisem II pipeline network has been integrated with the Cisem I section at the Batang Industrial Estate (KITB) in Central Java and with the Kandang Haur Timur (KHT) station in West Java.
“This integration establishes an interconnected pipeline network system and provides greater operational flexibility and reliability for natural gas infrastructure,” Agung said.
He added that the integration of Cisem II into the national gas transmission network would help secure energy supply for strategic sectors such as refineries, fertilizer plants and power stations, while also supporting household gas network programs and small businesses along the pipeline route.
Pertagas said the company remains focused on supporting Indonesia’s energy transition through expanded use of natural gas and strengthening national energy security.
