Pertamina partners in Riau not registered

Many business partners either suppliers or contractors of the state owned oil company Pertamina in Riau have not been registered in the local chapter of the Indonesian chamber of commerce and industry (Kadin), Riau Pos reported on Wednesday.

The chairman of the business organization in the province, Adwin Malik, said in Pekanbaru on Tuesday that the state oil company's reluctance to register their partners had caused a problem to the company especially when there was a workers demonstration.

"The recent workers strike at a contractor of Pertamina should not pose a problem to the state oil company if the contractor was registered," he said.

He said during the recent workers demonstration, the workers lodged their demand for a raise in salary to Pertamina rather than to the contractor while the local Kadin office could not help settle the dispute because the contractor involved was not registered. (*)
