A group of residents from several villages including Tanjung Raman, Dusun Prabumulih, Gunung Kemala. Karang Raja, Sukaraja and Muara Dua blocked the main road connecting Prabumulih and Muaraenim, South Sumatra on Friday as their protest against the refusal of the local office of Pertamina to hire the locals.
Sumatera Express reported on Saturday that the protest was made although the state oil and gas company had recruited about 100 local residents. The recruitment was made after the villagers made a similar protest recently.
But the villagers repeated their protest against Pertamina on Friday demanding the state oil and gas company to recruit more local residents.
The protesting villagers met the mayor of Prabumulih to express their demand before blocking the road. The mayor immediately met Pertamina executives to discuss the protest. But the meeting failed to produce any results. The protesting villagers then blocked as their protests against Pertamina?s refusal. (*)
