Press Release: Indonesian President to open Houston Energy Dialog Conference
Tuesday, September 18 2001 - 10:32 PM WIB
Indonesia's Coordinating Ministers for Economy and for Political and Social Affairs, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Dr. Purnomo Yusgiantoro and Chairman of Commission VIII of the House of Representatives, Dr. Irwan Prayitno, will lead the line up of speakers for this conference dialog to respond to Indonesia's reforms and opportunities in the energy sector. It is expected that the current energy policy will be presented in detail and will include a discussion on Indonesia's new oil and gas bill. The HED2001 conference is a pre-conference forum of the Jakarta International Energy Conference (JIEC 2002).
``HED2001 will provide investors in the energy sector with firsthand information on the new era and the restructured investment climate that can be of benefit to all,'' states Dr. Subroto, who is the Conference Convenor and Chairman of Bimasena, the Mines and Energy Society in Indonesia.
Megawati, who was elected as President in July this year, is set to officiate the opening of the Houston Energy Dialog after her scheduled visit with President Bush in Washington, D.C.
The Houston Energy Dialog is organized in Indonesia by Bimasena and in Houston by the Indonesian Consulate General, the Indonesian American Business Association (IABA) and the Asia Society. For additional information, please contact the IABA at 713/789-0702 or e-mail iaba@onramp.net.
