PWI, Caltex give free medical services

The chapter of the Association of the Indonesian Journalists (PWI) in Riau in cooperation with PT Caltex Pacific Indonesia (CPI) launched on Thursday a free medical service to residents in Rejosari village in the Bukitraya district, Pekanbaru.

The free medical service, which started from early in the morning till late in the afternoon, received a positive response from the residents, especially students of the local elementary schools.

CPI's vice president for general affairs Tengku Amir Sulaiman hailed the initiative made by the local journalists to carry out such a social event and he promised to give more support for similar activities in the future.

The secretary of the provincial administration Tengku Lukman Djafaar also supported the local journalists' idea of providing the free medical service in the village.

He said that the involvement of the community's members was needed to improve the condition of the people's health. (*).
