Physical

Enquiries for Indonesian material kicked off the week strongly, several suppliers said, as Chinese demand remained positive. However, production and logistical conditions for producers loading out of Samarinda were understood to be far from ideal as many are contending with monsoon rains. A deal was reported from over the weekend done at $46.50/t FOB, basis 3,800 kc NAR, for a late January loading geared vessel. Another deal from late last week was heard done at $47.50/t FOB, basis 3,800 kc NAR, for late January, early February loading Panamax out of East Kalimantan. Farther out, a market was reported for a geared vessel loading in March bid at $41.50/t FOB, basis 3,800 kc NAR, and offered at $47.50/t FOB, same basis. For April loading, a bid was reported at $39.00/t FOB, basis 3,800 kc NAR, against an offer at $45.00/t FOB, same basis.

 

Paper

M42 traded in the evening session, Singapore time, at $40.00/t for 55,000 t for April. Through the day, M42 was heard bid for January at $44.80 and February bid at $43.70. March was bid at $40.75 and offered at $43.20, while April was bid at $38.60 and offered at $39.80. A spread for February vs March was offered at plus $3.40 and March vs April was bid at plus $1.50 and offered at plus $2.20.
