Physical

Chinese buying continues to dominate spot market sales for Indonesian material, although availability remains limited. For low-rank, a deal was reported at $40.50/t FOB, basis 3,800 kc NAR, for a Panamax loading out of East Kalimantan in January. A geared cargo was also said to have transacted at around $40.00/t FOB, basis 3,800 kc NAR, for January loading out of South Kalimantan, although this could not be confirmed at the time of writing. Bids were heard at $36.25-37.00/t FOB, basis 3,800 kc NAR, and $35.00/t FOB, same basis, for February and March loading respectively. An offer was heard at $41.00/t FOB, basis 3,800 kc NAR, for a Panamax loading in February. On an index linked basis, offers for geared vessels of 3,800 kc NAR material were reported at flat to M42 ($0.00/t) for February and March loading.

 

Paper

Prompt paper prices firmed further, following on from gains the previous day. It was a relatively busy day for M42 trading, with deals done for four of the front five months. December traded at $37.50, with January trading at $41.75. March traded between $40.05-40.50 in multiple trades and April was done at $39.65. A total of 87,000 t was transacted over the day. Earlier, M42 was bid for December at $35.75 and offered at $37.50, while January was bid at $40.25 and offered at $42.00. Bids were also reported at $40.00 for February, and $39.85 for March. April was heard bid at $39.75 and offered at $40.50.
