Sumatra Copper & Gold appoints mine manager

Australia-listed firm Sumatra Copper & Gold Plc. has appointed a mine manager for its 100 percent-owned Tembang gold and silver project in central Sumatra.
The company said in Jakarta on Friday that the mine manager, Don Harper, would manage and oversee stage I of the Tembang Project, which remained on-track to commence production in 2013.
Harper has a strong backgroud in project management and has experiences in taking resources projects from pre-feasibility stage into production. He is a qualified mining engineer with more than 21 years? experience in the mining industry.
Sumatra Managing Director Julian Ford said that Harper?s appointment significantly strengthened the Company?s project management team.
?Don?s management and negotiation skills, as well as his experience in driving projects from greenfield to production will be extremely important in facilitating development of Tembang, and I am delighted to welcome him to the Company,? said Ford.
?His narrow vein gold experience and track-record within developing countries are also of strategic importance to the development of Stage 1 of the project, which consists of the narrow vein gold and silver Belinau deposit," he said.
Prior to commencing with Sumatra , Harper was Chief Operating Officer of ASX -Iisted Tanami Gold Limited and has held several senior management roles both in underground and open pit operations
Between 2003 and 2008 he was Managing Director of ASX -Iisted Fox Resources where he brought the Radio Hill Nickel/Copper mine from feasibility into full production. He was Senior Mining Consultant for Newcrest?s Cracow Gold Project between 2002 and 2003. In the past 10 years Harper has led the technical and management overhaul and optimization in various underground narrow vein mining operations in Australia and abroad.
