SURGE launches affordable broadband service across Java, Maluku and Papua

Internet service provider PT Solusi Sinergi Digital Tbk (SURGE) (IDX: WIFI), through its subsidiary PT Telemedia Komunikasi Pratama, has launched IRA – Internet Rakyat fixed broadband services across Java, Maluku, and Papua as part of efforts to expand affordable internet access in Indonesia.

The company said the Regional-1 rollout currently covers more than 82 cities and regencies through over 550 active sites and 3,189 installed radio units as of May 26, 2026.

IRA – Internet Rakyat offers broadband speeds of up to 100 Mbps at a monthly price of Rp100,000 (US$ 5.5)and uses 5G Fixed Wireless Access technology on the 1.4 GHz spectrum combined with Fiber-To-The-Home network support.

SURGE said the service is aimed at addressing relatively high fixed broadband costs and uneven internet quality in Indonesia compared with other ASEAN countries.

Telemedia President Director Shannedy Ong said the company plans to accelerate broadband penetration across more regions in Indonesia under its 2026 expansion roadmap.

As part of the launch, the company introduced a promotional package in collaboration with TVRI and digital platform FolaPlay, offering three months of free internet access and free FIFA World Cup streaming during the promotional period from May 26 to July 19, 2026.
