Indonesia’s Forest Area Control Task Force (Satgas PKH) said it has taken control of a coal mining area operated by coal miner PT Emas Hitam Mulia in West Kutai, East Kalimantan, as part of efforts to regulate illegal mining activities in forest areas.
The task force said the action was carried out under Presidential Regulation No. 5 of 2025, with the company’s forest area permit officially revoked pending further investigation. The task force in its social media upload on Thursday did not give details about the size of the revoked area.
Satgas PKH, together with other government institutions, installed enforcement signboards at the site to mark that the area has been formally reclaimed by the state for management in accordance with land-use regulations and designated forest functions.

The task force said the operation and land recovery process proceeded without disruption.
The enforcement action forms part of broader government efforts to tighten supervision of mining activities in forest areas across Kalimantan.
