Indonesian gold miner PT Tunas Jaya Tamamas decided to cancel plans to mine gold from its 5,000 hectare concession in Bombana Regency of Southeast Sulawesi.

The decision was made after the company completed exploration in the area.

"The exploration result shows the concession does not contain prospective gold resources," the company's commissioner Ladjiman Damanik told Petromindo.com on Monday.

He said that the company was currently conducting surveys in other areas to find gold resources.

"We are conducting surveys on Seram Island," he said.

Tunas Jaya earlier said that it planned to start production from its Bombana concession sometimes in 2013.
