Chinese telecommunications equipment maker ZTE Corporation and state-controlled telecom operator PT Telkom Indonesia (Persero) Tbk have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to strengthen cooperation in digital infrastructure and technology solutions development in Indonesia.

The agreement aims to accelerate Indonesia’s digital transformation through the deployment of technologies including cloud computing, artificial intelligence (AI), and next-generation connectivity solutions, the companies said in a statement on Wednesday.

Under the partnership, ZTE will support Telkom in enhancing its digital ecosystem by leveraging its capabilities in digital infrastructure, AI-driven services and integrated digital platforms.

The collaboration is expected to strengthen service capabilities, accelerate innovation and provide scalable and secure digital solutions for enterprise and government customers.

“We are honoured to strengthen our collaboration with Telkom Indonesia, a key digital ecosystem enabler in Southeast Asia,” said Zhu Yang, Sales Director of ZTE Indonesia.

“This partnership reflects our shared vision to build intelligent, efficient, and sustainable digital infrastructure,” he added.

Telkom said the partnership aligns with its strategy to transform from a traditional telecommunications operator into a digital infrastructure and platform-based company.

Telkom Director of Strategic Business Development and Portfolio Seno Soemadji said the company plans to strengthen capabilities in data centers, connectivity and cloud-based platforms while integrating AI technologies into its digital services.

“Through partnerships like this, we aim to build a more resilient, secure, and competitive digital ecosystem in Indonesia and the region,” Seno said.

The companies said they will further explore cooperation in areas including enterprise digital solutions, AI-enabled services, digital infrastructure development and capability building to support Indonesia’s growing digital economy.
